This morning my daughter and my son were searching through the sears catalogue. This catalogue is the Christmas edition. So it’s chalked full of toys. First they began to circle everything that they would like to have. Well this went on for a little while until my daughter decided to write out all her requests. Three pages later she handed me her Christmas list. If I were to get everything on this list, I would definitely have to start shopping now! My son’s list wasn’t quite so big so I think we may be able to hook him up with some of his items. Kara on the other hand really needs to revise her list. Then we will see.

While I was growing up, I really wasn’t concerned with my health. I really don’t know why but I think that it may have something to do with the fact that I didn’t relish the thoughts of getting older. But I have found that I’ve been thinking a lot about my health and possibly health issues since turning 40. And I have also been investing in a lot more products that concern my health. I have looked into purchasing progesterone and I have just recently starting taking vitamins again. So I guess it’s better later than never that I started paying attention to my health. And hopefully if I keep up this trend, I will love a long, healthy and natural life.

We were able to get away one night this past weekend to go camping. Although my husband was home from work last week on holidays the weather didn’t cooperate with us at all to be able to go camping. But Sunday it started to get a bit sunny so we took a chance and went to the campsite. When we first got there it was sunny and nice out, but it didn’t take long for the dark clouds and rain to appear. We were outside playing badminton with the kids when it started to rain. It started sprinkling at first so we continued to play. Then it down poured. So we had to quit the game. But the kids had fun while we were playing and they didn’t mind at all that they got rained on. So on our next trip you can bet that they badminton rackets and birdies will be one of the first things packed.

Today was my appointment for the eye doctors. And surprise surprise I need new eyeglasses. No this didn’t really surprise me as it’s been over three years since I’ve last visited and I could honestly feel a change in my vision. When I work with my tiny, tiny beads I am having a real hard time finding the tiny, tiny holes. So hopefully with a new prescription and a new set of eye wear I will be able to see these tiny holes. I really need to start wearing these things full time and then maybe my next trip to the eye doctors won’t cost me quite so much.

A couple of months ago my husband and I decided not to put our home up for sale, but to stay in it for a while longer and build an extension. After the decision was made, we did a lot of talking but not a whole lot of working on it. So today we went out and purchased some of the supplies to start building the extension. We spent quite a bit of money and didn’t get half of the supplies that we needed. So I guess this extension is going to be built in bits and pieces. But at least we have gotten a start on it. Hopefully it will be all done for Christmas and we will be able to put our tree it in. This would be the best present for me. More space.

Yesterday the family had a surprise birthday party for the kids. The kids had a blast and it was nice that their aunt and uncle who live quite far away were able to be there. About halfway during the party my sister in law called me into a separate room and started giving me things that her mother had once owned (her mother passed away in September of 2007). Now I thought this was very nice that she wanted to include me (the daughter in law) in the gift giving. But it did make me uncomfortable.
I guess this is because by giving away my late mother in law’s things, it kind of puts a finality on things. But I took everything she gave me including her mother’s pulse oximeter. All of these things I took I will put away for my daughter for when she gets older. So although this part of the day creeped me out a bit, I know my sister in law was just trying make me feel like part of the family. So for this reason I just accepted the stuff and smiled.

My daughter is only 10, but I swear she’s going on 20. She is such a drama queen! Most of the time when “her world is falling apart” I just have to laugh. Like today. She was getting ready to go on an outing with her uncle, cousin and brother. When she looked in the mirror after washing her face, she seen a pimple. Oh my, the way she reacted you would have thought the sky was falling. She came running out of the bathroom claiming she is getting the world’s worst case of acne. Since she’s only 10 I really don’t see that happening yet. So we put a little cream on her pimple and she went on her merry way. Honestly I can’t wait to see how she acts when she really does get acne.

With the mandatory HDTV upgrades coming in 2009, I can see a lot of people will be looking for some tv deals in a real big hurry. Right now we have four TVs in our home and only one of them is HDTV ready. So that means we are either going to have to invest in some upgrade kits or buy some new TVs. Well I can tell you that I am not replacing three TVs. I just refuse to. So I guess we will just have to see what 2009 brings us. It won’t be three new TVs. That’s for sure.

Today turned out to be a very expensive day for my husband and myself. Tomorrow is my daughter’s 10th birthday and Monday is my son’s 8th so we ended up spending quite a bit of money. We had to purchase two presents, one cake and some groceries for the birthday party that the entire family is attending. It’s a real good thing that birthdays only come once a year or we would definitely be in the poor house. But I think it’s going to be worth it when both kids see their present, cake and their surprise party.
