You would think that after having the kids in school for nearly a month now that we would be all finished with the school shopping lists. But no, the money is still going out. Last wee alone I spent over $100 on two sets of wireless headphones for the kids. These items were extra items that were not already listed on their huge lists they got at the beginning of the year. So at the rate we are going I honestly can see I’ll still be purchasing school supplies in June when both kids are finished with school for the year.

Holy crap! I knew that getting ready to go back to school cost a bit of money, but until this year I never realized how much. It seems like we’ve been spending money every day since the kids went back to school, and the spending doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon. I really don’t understand our government and how they can say that the education system here in Canada is free because I can certainly tell you all that it definitely is not. But… they need these things for school so I guess we have to pay the price. It’s a good thing that Halloween isn’t here quite yet and I don’t have to order my halloween party invitations from invitationbox.com yet, otherwise, we’d most certainly be broke. But I think we’re almost done spending money so hopefully soon we can start saving instead of spending.

My son who is in grade 6 has already gotten his first big project assigned to him. He needs to do a pretty big project on the health care industry. So we have started on this project all ready. Last night we did a bit of research on point of care carts and other medical equipment and tonight we will work on it some more. This project isn’t due for about a month now, but it is a really big project so I’m trying to get him to do a little bit each night. So…. let the fun begin! Homework has already started and they’ve only been in school for two days.

Well the children have been back to school for a couple of days now. So far so good. They seem to be settling in quite nicely and I haven’t heard too many bad reports yet either. My son is in his first year of middle school so this was a pretty big adjustment for him. My daughter is currently in her final year of middle school so everything is pretty much the same for her. Hopefully things continue to carry on as they have been. But if there are a few bumps in the road, I’m pretty sure that either child will be able to overcome them.

Although my children don’t have their final report cards yet this year I was already told that they both passed! This means that my daughter will be going into her final year of middle school next year and my son will be headed up for his first year of middle school. Man oh man, where has the time gone? So I guess that means I’ll have to invest in a couple of grading presents this year. I really wish I could afford to buy them a wii system with extra wii remotes but I don’t think that’s quite possible this year. But I will find them both something very nice to show them how proud I am of both of them.

The kids went back to school. Although I am extremely happy about this, it did cost us a fortune to send the kids back to school this year. Not only did we spend a small fortune on textbooks and school supplies, but we had to spend a small fortune on school clothes as well. It seems like every year the cost of sending these children back to school is costing more and more. Oh well the items are bought now and the kids are back in school so I guess the ends really do justify the means.

Well my bank account got massively hit this past week. Since the kids are headed back to school in three weeks I decided that I should probably get a start on the kid’s school clothes shopping. I did find a lot of great deals like apple bottoms pants for my daughter. But I still left the store $300 poorer. And the bad thing about all this. I’m not done yet! I still have to purchase all their school supplies and this is going to cost me about $200. Oh well at least they’re going back to school soon!

With less than three weeks left until the school year is finished I have started looking at buying a couple of grading presents. I think it would be awesome if I could afford some Disney vacations but I don’t think that’s going to happen this year. Both of the kids had a terrific year this year so I am planning on buying them something nice. Neither has asked for much for a grading present so it shouldn’t be too hard to find something perfect for both of them. Now all I have to do is find the gifts and purchase them.

I can’t believe how fast the school year has gone. Both the children did a wonderful job once again this year at school. I’ve already been told by both of their teachers that they both have passed. So this is a really great relief off my mind. Now it’s time to start thinking about the end of the school year presents. I always buy a gift for the teachers, the bus driver and this year I will have to look into coach gifts as well. But by purchasing all these gifts, it shows the kids teachers that we really do appreciate all their hard work. Now all I have to do is decide what to buy.

You know it’s almost the end of the school year when the children come home asking for money for the end of the school year items and activities. The other day my son came home from school with the order form for his school year book. My daughter will end up bring home a similar form as well. Plus he needs money for two field trips. So this is how I know that the school year is slowly winding down. When the children need all this extra money. But this is also their favorite time of the school year so I guess if it cost me a little money for them to have a little extra fun, then it is all worth it.
