And the job hunt continues

Well you may not be aware of this but my husband is currently looking for a new job. He has been employed at the place he works now for over 10 years and is not getting seriously tired of all the stuff that’s been happening around there lately. He has had a couple of mechanic job offers, but to take either of these jobs he is going to need to take a cut in pay. Well we really can’t afford that. So he is thinking that he may like to get a truck driving job.

A few years ago he went to truck driving school but has never done anything with it. Now he thinks this may be a job he would like. It pays really good, and he would be by himself most of the time which is something he prefers. I guess we will have to wait and see if this is the direction he chooses to go in. If it is I think I’m going to have a couple of upset little kiddies on my hands.

Purchasing a new vehicle

Well for the past couple of weeks my husband and I have been looking at different vehicles that we would like to purchase to replace my old car. Most of the vehicles we have been looking at have been cheaper vehicles that wouldn’t require any type of financing. But I haven’t found anything I like or anything that I have found to be worth the money. So I think I’m probably going to have to go to a dealer and finance this purchase.

Well to do this, I’m going to have to get access to my credit score. I would like to know how good my credit is before I even attempt to go in and try to finance a purchase of this size. I have found a great site on the Internet where I will be able to acquire a free credit score. The better my credit score is, the more money I would be able to borrow and the better vehicle I will be able to purchase. This vehicle really needs to last me for quite a while, so I’m hoping that by determining how well my credit score is currently I will be able to make the kind of purchase that I want.

Christmas is coming

I realize that this is probably a topic that some of you guys really don’t want to think about right now. But…it’s coming. Over the weekend I was talking to one of my co-workers and the topic of Christmas came up. I was quite surprised when she informed me that she was almost finished with her Christmas shopping. The reason for my surprise? Well, possibly because I haven’t even begun to start shopping yet. I always tell myself every year that I’m going to get a jump start on all my Christmas shopping for the following year, but it never seems to work out that way. So here I am again with the Christmas season looming ahead and not a present bought and not even any ideas what to purchase the children this year. Man, I really wish I was a little more like this woman. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about this coming Christmas any more.

Grade 5

This year my daughter is in grade 5. What this means is that this is her final year in elementary school and next year she will be headed to junior high school. Oh man, am I ever feeling old now! Well in grade 5 they do a lot of different things to help ease the transition into junior high a little more easily for the kids. One of the things they do is teach a course called D.A.R.E. D.A.R.E stands for Drug Awareness and Recreation Education. In this course an actual police officer comes in to teach the classes. They discuss all the pitfalls of getting into drugs.

They teach the kids all about the different types of drugs that they can get access to and also about all the side effects and trouble they can get into if they do indeed take these drugs. They also discuss what it entails when a person needs to enter a drug treatment center to get clean. They explain how by taking a drug treatment program will help you, if your not careful you could very easily relapse.

I think this is a wonderful course to teach the children as we all have heard on the news or with personal life stories, kids in the junior high level can get tempted just as much as anyone else. My daughter is pretty smart about things like this already, but I am actually looking forward to her hearing all about drugs and their influences from an actual police officer.

Blowing in the wind

Although I live very far away from the United States, today we are receiving the tale end of hurricane Ike. We have gotten a little bit of rain, but have had massive wind gusts. At one point I really had to wonder if the wind was going to carry my youngest son away. Oh well, I guess we could have it a whole lot worse like a lot of people in the United States have gotten it. Thankfully none of our possessions or belongings have been blown away or destroyed. So I guess I can live with a little wind, just as long as it doesn’t blow the roof off my home. I really hope this hurricane is on it’s way out and does the least amount of damage that it can do before it blows itself out.

Applying for my first Car Loan

Well my old car finally had it. Last night I went to take it down the road, but it wouldn’t start. So I got my husband to check it out (he’s a mechanic) and he sadly informed me that the old girl has made her last trip. So, I called my bank today and made an appointment to apply for my very first Car Loan. As I’ve never had this experience before, I am quite nervous as to the process. But with sites like www.bestleadinglenders.com on the Internet I have been able to find a lot of answers to my questions.

Not only does this site deal with different types of car loans, but they also give a person information regarding Bad Credit Credit Cards as well. Although I personally don’t have bad credit myself, I know a lot of people who do so I’ve informed them about this sites existence. Because they will gladly help people to get credit even though they have bad credit, I really think they will be able to help my friends.

Now I just need to get myself ready for my own appointment.

Batten down the hatches!

Well now that the weekend is finally here, we need to make some changes in our weekend plans. Originally we had planned to take the kids on one more camping weekend and then take them to the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta that is going on in a nearby town. But having listening to the radio all day, our plans have drastically changed.

If the weatherman is to be trusted, then we are in for one heck of a storm over the weekend. It is being reported that we are going to get the tail end of the hurricane “Hannah”. They are reporting heavy rains and excessive winds. So it looks like we will be staying put and making sure that everything in our home is ready for Hannah.

So have a great weekend guys and hopefully by Monday I’ll be able to let you all know how we made out.

She’s becoming a teenager

My daughter is only 10 but I seriously think she’s becoming a teenager. The attitude she displays these days is quite unreal. Even my neighbors were quite surprised at her attitude yesterday. My husband jokes about the kind of relationship that her and I will have when she becomes a teenager, but to me, it’s no joking matter. Seriously I am really not looking forward to her teenage years. I’m not looking forward to the day that I need to start purchasing her the best acne treatments available. When she starts getting serious acne I can just imagine the drama that will go with that. If her attitude over the past couple of weeks is a sign of things to come, then I definitely don’t want it!

Better day today

Yesterday I was so…fed up with the kid’s fighting that I was seriously thinking about running away to the Outer Banks. I would have to say that yesterday was probably one of the worst days ever for their behavior. It didn’t matter what type of punishment I handed out, it just didn’t seem to do any good. Well I’m happy to report that today is a much better day and they haven’t hardly fought at all. So I don’t think I’ll be running away just yet. When I told my husband of their better behaviour today, he said that now that I mentioned it, they might start acting up again. So by saying it out loud and now posting about it, I seriously hope I haven’t jinxed myself. Only time will tell I guess.

Very sad indeed

The first of the week I was informed that one of our radio personalities had passed away. Now I hadn’t seen him in a very long time so I wasn’t even aware that he was sick. But I was told that he had lost a tremendous amount of weight so I just assumed that he passed away from cancer. Well last night I found out differently. He actually died of liver failure and it could have been prevented.

In January his doctor told him that if he didn’t cut back on his drinking he would be dead within six months. Well he didn’t quit drinking or even slow down and seven months later he died. This has got me doing some serious thinking. Why in the world would a man of only 53 choose drinking over life?? If he had of stopped, he wouldn’t have been in perfect shape, but he would probably still be alive.

I realize that alcoholism is a terrible disease, but it just sickens me to think that he chose the alcohol over life.
