For the past week I have had two children home on March break. Well to say that not a whole lot got done around this house over the past week is a serious understatement. I just couldn’t seem to get much accomplished with two kids underfoot. Well I don’t have that excuse this week. Both kids headed out the door and back to school this morning so I have loads of time to get some things done. I do have a lot of work ahead of me, but being the only one in this house today should help me get a lot of this work done. I love the children dearly, but I absolutely love it when they are both in school!

After a week of having the kids home and underfoot I think it’s safe to say I’m going to make it. At the first of their March break they weren’t really bad, they were just quite noisy. But the last couple of days has been pretty brutal with the fighting and I’ve got one heck of a headache! But the end is in sight. Only three days left for their mini vacation and then they will be back in school. I really do love the children dearly, but really am not loving all this fighting. But it’s the weekend and then on Monday morning they will both be headed back to school. So I think I can make it!

For years now the kids have been asking their father and I for a puppy. But because we live in such a small home we really haven’t considered it. About a month ago a girl I work with told me her dog had puppies. Her dog is a very small dog which means the puppies would be also. We thought that would be great for us. But… after talking to her more about it, I don’t think we’ll be getting a puppy from her. She wants $300 for each puppy. Well that’s a little bit more than I’m willing to spend. If I spent that and bought dog training aids, dog food and everything else he would need, I would be in the poor house. So I guess it doesn’t look like we are getting a puppy any time soon.

I really have to wonder how much more of the children’s fighting I’m supposed to put up with. They have been home from school for about two weeks now and their fighting has been brutal. It’s been so bad these last couple of days that I have had a permanent headache. They do go back to school and Tuesday and let me tell you all, that I absolutely can’t wait! I only have five more days to put in and I’m really hoping that I can make it.

Last week was a pretty rough week here at my house for people being sick. My youngest son was home sick from school for most of the week and my daughter was home for a couple of days as well. But they both seem to be a lot better and both are back in school. I’m really hoping this is the end of the sickness for both of them for awhile. It’s nice to get it over with before the Christmas season.

I have been constantly at my 12 year old daughter to clean her room. Well… she had her chance. Now it’s my turn. Honestly I’ve NEVER seen a kid’s room as bad as her’s. I swear she is a mini hoarder. So can you guess what I’ll be doing today?? That’s right, instead of spending time on line looking up things like glucosamine chondroitin msm, I will be cleaning her room. She isn’t going to like the way I clean it. But oh well, she had her chance.

So I’ve wasted a lot of time hitting click here on different websites to try to find that perfect gift for my daughter. She’s 12 and I’m having a real hard time finding her a gift. She’s too old for the little girl toys and she’s too young for the teenage gifts. She’s right in the middle. That’s why I’m having such a difficult time finding the perfect present. Oh well, I still have about three weeks left. I guess I’ll just have to keep browsing.

What is it these days with kids? When I was growing up and asked to make out my Christmas list, my list would contain three or four things that I really wanted. Well this year when I asked my kids to make out their lists, you wouldn’t believe what they each had on them. My son asked for a steel drum (yeah right) and they both asked for laptops (I guess they forgot about the notebook we bought them last year). Why do kids now a days expect so much?? Is it just me or are you experiencing this too?

It’s amazing how quickly kids grow up now isn’t it?! My daughter is now 12 but some of the things she says and does makes me wonder if she isn’t a teenager already. Last night she asked me if I would purchase her some acne cream for the ONE pimple she has on her face. I had to laugh at this. Honestly if one pimple is going to bother her, I can’t imagine how she is going to react to life later on down the road. Oh well… I guess they all grow up sooner or later right?? I just wish it was later rather than sooner.

My son is in grade 5 but looks like he is in grade 3. He is 10 years old and still wears size eight pants. Up until this year his size didn’t bother him but this year it is starting to bother him because all of the boys in his class are almost twice his size. Last night he was talking about human growth hormones. I think he seen it on TV. I have told him not to worry about it as he will eventually grow. But I think it is really starting to get to him.
