Yeah, I know this is Monday so technically the weekend is over. But due to teacher’s meetings I have had my kids home from school for four long days and I am so ready to have them go back. They go back to school tomorrow morning and I for one couldn’t be happier. They spent most of the weekend fighting over sport trophies of all things. When these two have two much time on their hands I guess they feel the need to fight to amuse themselves. But that will all be over at 8:00 am tomorrow morning. Come on morning!!

You would think that after having the kids in school for nearly a month now that we would be all finished with the school shopping lists. But no, the money is still going out. Last wee alone I spent over $100 on two sets of wireless headphones for the kids. These items were extra items that were not already listed on their huge lists they got at the beginning of the year. So at the rate we are going I honestly can see I’ll still be purchasing school supplies in June when both kids are finished with school for the year.

Holy crap! I knew that getting ready to go back to school cost a bit of money, but until this year I never realized how much. It seems like we’ve been spending money every day since the kids went back to school, and the spending doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon. I really don’t understand our government and how they can say that the education system here in Canada is free because I can certainly tell you all that it definitely is not. But… they need these things for school so I guess we have to pay the price. It’s a good thing that Halloween isn’t here quite yet and I don’t have to order my halloween party invitations from invitationbox.com yet, otherwise, we’d most certainly be broke. But I think we’re almost done spending money so hopefully soon we can start saving instead of spending.

My son who is in grade 6 has already gotten his first big project assigned to him. He needs to do a pretty big project on the health care industry. So we have started on this project all ready. Last night we did a bit of research on point of care carts and other medical equipment and tonight we will work on it some more. This project isn’t due for about a month now, but it is a really big project so I’m trying to get him to do a little bit each night. So…. let the fun begin! Homework has already started and they’ve only been in school for two days.

Well the children have been back to school for a couple of days now. So far so good. They seem to be settling in quite nicely and I haven’t heard too many bad reports yet either. My son is in his first year of middle school so this was a pretty big adjustment for him. My daughter is currently in her final year of middle school so everything is pretty much the same for her. Hopefully things continue to carry on as they have been. But if there are a few bumps in the road, I’m pretty sure that either child will be able to overcome them.

Although my daughter is only 12 she does have a boyfriend. Obviously not a serious thing, but it’s cute none the less. Well she hasn’t seen this boy since school ended and she was getting a little concerned because she hadn’t heard from him either. Well yesterday she got the phone call that she’s been waiting for. He finally called her and explained where he’s been and why he hadn’t been in touch with her. And… he also asked her if they could hang out together today. So this child is quite happy and excited and will see him later on today. I will also see him as she is only 12 so she has been told they have to “hang out” here.

Although this is not a Long Weekend, it is the weekend none the less. And… true to form, the kids are acting up this weekend. They have been fighting a lot and are really getting on my nerves. But honestly I don’t know if they are driving me crazy because they continue to fight or if it’s because I don’t feel that well and things seem to bother me a bit more. Anyway…. I just hope soon they calm things down so I can have a little peace and quiet.

Although my children don’t have their final report cards yet this year I was already told that they both passed! This means that my daughter will be going into her final year of middle school next year and my son will be headed up for his first year of middle school. Man oh man, where has the time gone? So I guess that means I’ll have to invest in a couple of grading presents this year. I really wish I could afford to buy them a wii system with extra wii remotes but I don’t think that’s quite possible this year. But I will find them both something very nice to show them how proud I am of both of them.

It was pretty much touch and go there for awhile, but I’m happy to report that I survived the kid’s long weekend. On Friday they fought a lot and I thought that if this was what I was going to be in for for the weekend I was going to be in some serious trouble. But their behaviour seemed to improve over the past few days so I was able to survive after all. I love the children dearly, but hate, hate when they have too many days off. But the vacation is over, they are back in school and I have the house to myself once again. So all is right in Kim land once again.
