A couple of months ago my husband and I decided not to put our home up for sale, but to stay in it for a while longer and build an extension. After the decision was made, we did a lot of talking but not a whole lot of working on it. So today we went out and purchased some of the supplies to start building the extension. We spent quite a bit of money and didn’t get half of the supplies that we needed. So I guess this extension is going to be built in bits and pieces. But at least we have gotten a start on it. Hopefully it will be all done for Christmas and we will be able to put our tree it in. This would be the best present for me. More space.

With the mandatory HDTV upgrades coming in 2009, I can see a lot of people will be looking for some tv deals in a real big hurry. Right now we have four TVs in our home and only one of them is HDTV ready. So that means we are either going to have to invest in some upgrade kits or buy some new TVs. Well I can tell you that I am not replacing three TVs. I just refuse to. So I guess we will just have to see what 2009 brings us. It won’t be three new TVs. That’s for sure.

After over a week of temperatures in the low 30’s we are having a little break today. It is cloudy and rainy today with temperatures around the 20 degrees mark. This is wonderful. The kids aren’t real impressed with this as it means they have to stay inside today, but it’s great news for me. That means I have to stay inside and do all the things that I’ve been putting off for over a week. When it’s nice and sunny outside I just can’t seem to stay inside. But with the rain I’ll have no choice. So I’ll get some cleaning done today, a lot of computer work done and hopefully some crafting. It’s suppose to be nice tomorrow and through the weekend so I need to get as much accomplished today as I possibly can.

Now that we have decided to put our home up for sale to purchase another one, I get the nice job of finding some boxes and packing up some of our stuff so we can declutter the house. I am only going to pack up the items that we haven’t used in the past year or so. I don’t know how long it will take to sell our home and I certainly don’t want to be living out of cardboard boxes until we do sell. The good thing about packing up stuff now is that when we do eventually sell and get ready to move, it will be less packing for me then. Now all I have to do is find somewhere to store all this stuff until the day comes when I can post that we are moving.

Since today is such a crappy day out today (weather wise) I have decided that it’s a great day to clean out mine and my husband’s dressers. When I finally do get around to doing this, I usually have a rule: if it hasn’t been worn in six months, it’s got to go. So I have no doubt that I will be tossing out a lot of the cheap lingerie that my husband has purchased me over the years. I honestly don’t wear these types of things and really could never understand why he still insists on purchasing them. But if I follow my rule, I will be getting rid of all of it as I never have worn any of it. Even when it was brand new.

Last night, on our street, everyone got a little treat. The park manager went out and spent quite a bit of money for some fireworks and set them off around 10:00 pm. We didn’t know this was going to take place until later in the evening or we would have gone out and purchased our own to add to his collection. The kids thought this was a super treat. Although I do get a bit annoyed sometimes about living in the park, little neighborhood things like this certainly pick my spirits up. Tuesday here in Canada is Canada day so most of the neighbors on the street are going to get together and have another fireworks display. The kids will love it and it will be a great way to end this holiday as well as a very unique way of getting to know the neighbors.

I have a lot of work that needs to get done today so I really need to get myself off this computer. lol Today is the final full day that I will have to myself for the entire summer. Tomorrow the kids have a half a day of school and then they are home for summer vacation. They will be attending art camp four weeks this summer, but these are only half days and I will have to drive them back and forth everyday. So I’m trying to get all my work done today so that I can spend a little fun time with the kids this summer. But whatever doesn’t get done today will eventually get done so I’m not really worried. So I’m going off the computer now and I will talk to you all later.

With having three computers in the home, we really need to get things better organized. Right now we have a computer in the living room, the dining room and in the spare room. After browsing on the Internet the other day I have decided that something we really need to have is a KVM box to manage all our computers from one station. Having three computers is wonderful. This way were not all fighting to get the computer from one another. But having three can also be a little disorganized and I need to find a better method to fight this disorganization.

Living in a home that has five people in it, most of my time is spent cleaning. It seems like the faster I clean up the mess, the faster these people mess it back up. And…if you think that most of the mess comes from the kids then I have to tell you that your wrong. Most of the mess has come from my husband and lately I have been trying to think of some creative ways to get all this cleaning done faster and better.
A couple of ways I thought of doing is is number one, by wrapping my entire family in bubble wrap. If they are all wrapped up, they can then concentrate on popping bubbles instead of making messes. But I think the best way I have come up with is giving them all a lint brush and making them clean the house with it. I think after a short amount of time of having to do this, they would think twice about making another mess.
But since neither one of these ideas are a real solution to my problem I think I should probably look into purchasing a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner. I have used dirt devil in the past and found this brand of vacuum to be one of the best. Now they have a new product on the market which is a lot more energy efficient than past products, and it’s cordless, so I can carry it to all the messes that my family creates. So instead of getting mad and spending all my money on bubble wrap or lint brushes, I’m pretty sure the purchase of a dirt devil would be more effective in the day to day cleaning at my house.

I am amazed how fast time flies when your not paying attention. My oldest son moved out a year ago on the 21st of this month. I can’t believe it’s been a year already and that he has lasted a year on his own. He moved quite far away, so we don’t get the opportunity to see him very often. We do communicate through phone calls and e-mails so I know he is doing OK. But it’s still hard. I think his moving out and so far away has been the hardest on the two younger kids that are still at home. When he first moved out they were happy for him and excited that he was going on an adventure. But now since it’s been so long they really miss him and want him to come home. My youngest son has even said that he would happily give Josh his old room back if he came home. But…he likes where he is at so I’m sure he will be there for many more years to come. It’s just too bad we can’t seem him as much as we would like to.
