With Christmas Eve only a week away I am feeling quite pleased with myself. I have all my Christmas shopping done, all the baking done (um, bought) and most of the cleaning done. I have never been this far ahead of the game before so that’s why I am quite pleased. The tree is going up tonight and the Christmas cards will be mailed out today. Then next week I need to buy a pile of groceries and then I’m done! How close are you all to being finished with all your Christmas preparations?

Man did my credit card ever take a hit yesterday. I went out yesterday to finish up my Christmas shopping and I ended up making a couple of purchases on my credit card. Thankfully I won’t have to face the bill until January. But it does have to be paid off. Thank goodness Christmas only comes once a year otherwise I think I would have to retire my credit card. Oh well, tis the season.

So I’ve wasted a lot of time hitting click here on different websites to try to find that perfect gift for my daughter. She’s 12 and I’m having a real hard time finding her a gift. She’s too old for the little girl toys and she’s too young for the teenage gifts. She’s right in the middle. That’s why I’m having such a difficult time finding the perfect present. Oh well, I still have about three weeks left. I guess I’ll just have to keep browsing.

Every year my husband asks me to make up a list of things that I want for Christmas. I guess he finds this easier than going out and trying to find things that he thinks I would like. Well this year my Christmas wish list isn’t very big. I have asked him for some Luxury towels, a watch and a wireless printer. I guess my small list stems from when I was growing up. When I was growing up we didn’t have a whole lot of money so I would only ask for a few things. I guess now I kind of think the same way and only end up asking for a few things. Hopefully he gets me what I have on my list. But if not, I’m sure what ever he ends up with will be perfect.

Every year I buy my husband the same gift. I always purchase him a gift card from Canadian Tire so he can pick out something that he likes. I normally don’t have any clue what to buy him so a gift card is usually the way I end up going. Well last night he informed me that *I* bought him a very nice present this year. Apparently I bought him a very nice LCD TV. Now wasn’t that nice of me?? But… at least this year I don’t have to worry about what to get him. He took that problem right out of my hands.

What is it these days with kids? When I was growing up and asked to make out my Christmas list, my list would contain three or four things that I really wanted. Well this year when I asked my kids to make out their lists, you wouldn’t believe what they each had on them. My son asked for a steel drum (yeah right) and they both asked for laptops (I guess they forgot about the notebook we bought them last year). Why do kids now a days expect so much?? Is it just me or are you experiencing this too?

So instead of having a Cyber Monday, we are having a holiday on Monday. This Monday will be New Brunswick day. Now for most of the folks in our province, this means that we have an extra day off. Well not in our house. My husband is on call this weekend and still has to work. So although it’s a holiday, we still won’t get to do much of anything. Hopefully we will be able to fit a little fun time in this weekend.

So to all my fellow NB’ers, I wish you all a happy long holiday weekend.
