Every year my husband gets four weeks of vacation. But… one of those weeks, he has to take between January and March. So yeah, not much of a vacation. He has chosen to take next week off. So next week I will have my biggest child home for the week. Since we can’t do anything or go anywhere (the kids are still in school) I have some plans for him to get some work done around the house. I’m going to get him to finally put up the wood blinds that we purchased before Christmas and I’m also going to get him to help me move back into my home office. Oh don’t worry, I’ll let him have some time to himself. After all, it is his vacation time. lol

Friday night my husband and I went out on a date night. We first went to dinner where I seriously pigged out. At one point I thought I might have to take a fat burner because I ate so much. Then we went out to a club, had a couple of drinks and came home. Although it was not a expensive or even a late evening, just getting out and away together was enough. We don’t do this nearly enough, but I plan on changing that. I plan on going out like this at least once a month. After all, we all need a little alone time with our husband’s now don’t we??

My husband is so funny sometimes (but don’t tell him I said that). Over the years his hair has been thinning quite a bit, and he now almost bald on top. So last night he came home with some hair growth shampoo to see if he couldn’t turn back the hands of time. He is still a nice looking man and him losing his hair doesn’t bother me, but it certainly bothers him. I hope for his sake this shampoo works. But even if it doesn’t he will still be aces in my book. I just wish he would see it that way as well.

My husband and I don’t normally have the opportunity to go out on a date. We have two young kids at home and no babysitter. So we normally do something with the kids. Well he came home yesterday with a big surprise for me. He found a sitter for Friday night and announced that he is taking me out for a date. He has decided to take me out to dinner and a movie. Since he’s been so good taking his best weight loss supplements that he could find and has taken off quite a bit of weight, he has decided that he wants to splurge and go out for a good meal. I don’t care why he made this decision to take me out, I’m just happy that he decided to do it. I can’t wait!

Every now and again my husband has to go out of town for his work. And every time he goes, the kids get really upset. Well, you guessed it! He’s off and running again. He did inform the kids last night of his plans and neither one is very impressed. But, what can he do? So for the next couple of weeks we will be busy trying to get him ready to go away for a week. Because he is going to be out of the province for a week, I am insisting that he purchase medical travel insurance. He thinks it’s a big waste of time and money, but hey, you can never be too careful right?! And that gives us two weeks to get the kids used to the idea of him being away from home. I don’t like it when he goes out of town, but if he wants to keep his job, this is what he has to do.

With the wedding season in full swing, my husband and son need to rent a couple of tuxedos. My husband’s cousin is getting married around the first of September and has asked both my husband and my son to be part of the wedding party. Thankfully the tuxedo rentals will be paid for by the groom, or this may not have been possible. I have never seen my son or my husband in a tuxedo so I really can’t wait to see them in their tuxedos. I plan on taking lots and lots of pictures and will be sure to pop back in here with some photos of my two handsome men.

Yesterday we were invited to my husband’s father’s for a family barbecue. And although we are not really fond of his wife, the kids really wanted to go so we did end up going. And actually it wasn’t as bad as we thought. His wife did go on and on about the best weight loss pill that she has found, but other than that she wasn’t quite as annoying as in previous visits. It really is a shame that the kids don’t see their grandfather all that often, but having to put up with his wife and all her strange behavior just kind of ruins all the visits. Hopefully the visits in the future will go like yesterday did and then maybe we wouldn’t mind being around her quite so much.

So far this summer has been pretty crappy as far as the weather goes. We haven’t had one nice weekend yet where we could take the kids camping. Some days it feels like we wasted our money purchasing a pop up camping trailer. Maybe we should have just made a Westgate reservation and took the kids on a trip that way. But since it’s still only the first of July, hopefully we will still get a few days of camping in. Only time and the weatherman will tell.

As all you Canadians are aware of, tomorrow is a holiday. It is July 1st, which means this is Canada day. There are a ton of celebrations planned for this day and my husband and I are planning on taking the kids to one of them. The area where we normally go on Canada day always holds a car show. So this is the one that we normally attend. My husband and youngest son like to look at all the old cars as well as the new ones. Last year they spent quite a bit of time checking out the Ferrari parts which bored my daughter and I to death. But the boys enjoyed it. Hopefully this year there will be things for my daughter and I to look at.
