Yard sale this Saturday

Most of you may not be aware of this, but I have set up a small crafting business over at Simply Crafting. Here you will find all the projects that I have personally made up for sale. Most of the inventory of the inventory that I have for sale is homemade jewelry. I have had a couple of sales from my site. But I haven’t sold nearly the amount of jewelry that I want to.

I was contacted today from a friend of mine who is having a yard sale on Saturday. She asked me if I would like to participate in it and try to sell some of my jewelry. So I figured why not. Even if I don’t sell a thing on Saturday the only thing I will have wasted would be my time. So I’m off to a yard sale on Saturday and hopefully the first of next week I’ll be able to come in and post that I’ve sold a ton of jewelry.

Back to camp

After a two week break from art day camp the kids are going back today.  They will be going everyday for the next three weeks.  They are pretty excited about going back and have had all their supplies packed for days.  I’m quite happy that their going back as well.  Now I don’t need to entertain them everyday all day and I could possibly get some much needed work done.  I can’t believe how fast this summer is flying by.  But the kids are having a blast and that’s what summer vacation is all about now isn’t it?!

Trying something new

As you all know, I make a lot of home made jewelry. Up until now I have been pretty much just making either one stranded beaded necklaces and bracelets or three stranded necklaces and bracelets. Well I have decided to try my hand at something new. I am going to attempt to make some religious jewelry as well. After browsing the Internet at various craft sites I have seen a lot of this type of jewelry displayed and I love the look of it. So if I love it so much, I’m sure other’s do as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to start on this type of jewelry making soon and then I will have other types of jewelry to sell as well.

It seems like all I do is post about the weather. Now normally my posts are quite negative. They usually entail me moaning and complaining about the rain that ruins our camping trips. Well today I am here to boast about the great weather that we have been experiencing for the kids first week of art camp. Summer is a great season to participate in a lot of outdoor sports if the weather co-operates and this week the kids are spending all their time outdoors at their camp. So it’s a good thing that the weather decided to co-operate with us. I think it knew better as it would have had a couple of angry kids to deal with. lol

First day of art camp

Today is the first day of art camp for the kids and they are so excited.  Ever since I got up this morning, they have been asking me how many hours and minutes until they go.  When we started the countdown, it was five and a half hours.  And I’ve been doing this countdown every hour on the hour since then.  I honestly hope I don’t have to go through this each and every day that their suppose to go.  But I’m glad that they are excited.  At first my son wasn’t that keen on it, but he really seems to be coming around now.  Well, only one and half hours before we go now. lol

Art camp

Well the kids are pumped!  Yesterday I turned in the paperwork for them to attend a four week summer art program.  I found out this morning that they were both accepted for the weeks that they wanted to go.  Each week has a different theme and they could pick four out of eight weeks of activities.  So this summer they will be learning painting and drawing techniques.  Sculpting techniques.  Dance, music and performing.  Their first week of camp starts Monday morning so they don’t get too much of a break from school and then starting this camp.  My daughter is a little more excited about this whole event then my son is.  But I think once he gets there and starts to get involved with all the learning he will do fine.  I’m just thankful that there are camps like this available to the kids so they are not stuck home all summer with nothing to do.

First two sales

Well I finally made my first two sales off the Internet for my handcrafted jewelry.  One of the sales was for a $25.00 handcrafted necklace and this particular piece went all the way to Texas.  Being from Canada myself, I got a real charge out of that.  The other order was from a friend of mine (thanks Tammy) so I could actually hand deliver this one.  Now that I have these first two sales under my belt, my motivation has returned big time to start advertising my business even more.  If I can get two sales in one day, then I’m sure I can get more.  So for the next little while I’m going to completely focus all my crafting endeavors on making jewelry and posting the pictures on my crafting blog.

My little “crafter”

As you all know my favorite pass time is making and creating crafts.  I do a lot of different craft work during the run of a week and I have two little people who enjoy watching me and then trying the crafts themselves.  I discovered last night that the best crafter of the two is my son, not my daughter.  He likes doing every thing I do and he has the patience to sit down and do them.  My daughter does not.  I think part of her problem stems from the fact that she is left handed so it is more difficult for me to teach her.

A couple of Christmases ago she received a rug hooking kit as a Christmas present.  After a few futile tries at this craft she got mad and packed up the box and gave it to me to finish for her.  Well that didn’t happen. lol  Last night my son seen the box and asked if he could try it.  I only had to show him twice and then he was off to the races.

He loves making crafts, but is a little “embarrassed” doing it.  He thinks making crafts is a “girl” thing.  So last night he asked me if rug hooking was a sport.  I told him it was and then he was quite happy to continue on with his newest hobby.

Jewelry pictures

I’ve been posting quite a bit about my latest venture. That would be the home crafting business that I’m trying to get up and running. When it’s all said and done I would like to sell quilts, knitted products, plastic canvas products and of course my homemade jewelry. So this is a post to give you all a sneak preview of things that I will eventually be selling. I haven’t been working really hard at the selling part yet as I’m trying to build up my inventory. But, I will show you a couple of pictures that will eventually be up for sale. So enjoy looking at the pictures and please leave me a comment to let me know what you think. I would love to hear from you all.
