Well I’m finally starting to see my former living room again. Now with the tree gone my living room looks so much bigger. I know it’s not, but after a huge tree sitting in there for over a week and now it’s gone, it almost seems like I have enough room to fit some home theater seating in it. But I’m sure once I put back in all the furniture that is supposed to be in there it won’t look quite so big anymore. I’m trying to get this all accomplished before the end of the day so all I will have to worry about is having a nice, quiet and relaxing new year’s eve with my family.

Happy new year all. I will see you all again in the new year.

Well all the rushing around and spending money on Christmas is finally over. I have to say that I am quite proud of my husband and I this year. We didn’t go overboard and didn’t spend quite as much money as in previous years. The kids still had a great Christmas and we still have money left over. I guess we really won’t need to worry about having the commercial collection agencies calling us day in and day out over money this year. It’s a great feeling to know that the kids had a great Christmas and we didn’t break the bank to do it. Hopefully we will be able to continue this trend in years to come. I really don’t think anyone lost out on anything this year and we still have enough money left over to get us through the winter months.

Since we live in Eastern Canada we are quite used to snow and snow storms.  Last night we were hit with another one.  The only good thing about all this, is that the kids didn’t have any school today anyway so we really didn’t need to go out today.  My husband had to go to work though.  So before 6:00 am him and my 8 year old son were outside shoveling out his truck and the deck.  It’s a good thing my son is only 8.  He still likes to shovel.  I can see this won’t be so much fun when he hits his teen years.  None of the rest of the driveway is done yet.  The men plan on doing this when my husband gets home from work.  It’s times like this that I really do appreciate the fact that I’m a girl.   And…they are calling for more of the same over the next 24 hours.  I guess we will have to wait and see.

Well no, not really.  But my youngest son thinks he’s famous.  Yesterday the kid’s school participated in a very unique food drive.  For the past month or so they have been involved with collecting food for the local food bank.  Their goal was to collect one metric ton of food and I’m happy to say that they met that goal and then some.  Well yesterday it was time to deliver all this food to the food bank and this is what they did.

They formed a human chain of over 1000 people.  And passed the food down the line one item at a time.  Well they were able to deliver all the food by this measure and our local media was there to record it all.  At 5:00 pm they had a story on the news about this event and one of the children that was spotted on the news was my son.  This is why he thinks he’s famous.  They had a blast and now the needy in our area will have enough food for the holidays.

Famous or not, he still needs to clean his room when he gets home from school. he, he

I really had to laugh at my brother last night. He lives over 1000 miles away from us so obviously he won’t be home for the Christmas season. But he did place a phone call last night to me so we could catch up on all that’s been happening in our lives over the past couple of months. He was talking about all the baking his wife has been doing (he loves his food) and then commented on how he was thinking about picking up some Decaslim to counteract all the Christmas eating he plans on doing. Well, leave it to a man to only be concerned with the food this time of year. But I’m glad to hear that he’s doing good and even though he can’t be home during this time of year, I’m sure he will have a great Christmas. Well, by the sounds of it he will be eating pretty good, so to him that’s a good Christmas.

Last week my daughter was supposed to participate in a pretty big Christmas concert. She plays the violin. But due to a massive snowstorm, they had to postpone it. Well it is scheduled to go tonight and it looks like the weather is finally cooperating with us. They need to be at the school at 6:00 and will begin playing. The concert is set to go for two hours. Even though this will be a long tiring night for her (she’s only 10) she is really looking forward to the big event. And, I’m looking forward to hearing her play. They have practiced really hard and I’m sure they will all do a fine job.

And…the best part. She will be the lead in one of the songs. She is quite excited and nervous about this. But this is why she has practiced so hard so I know she will do good.

Well it’s been confirmed, my oldest son will not be able to make it home for the holidays again this year. About a year and a half ago he moved quite far away from home and hasn’t been back home for a visit ever since. He was seriously trying to make it home for Christmas this year and had even checked out a lot of different travel deals but he was unable to get the time off that was needed to make the trip home. Although we are all disappointed here, I’m sure he is more disappointed than we all are. Right now all he has around him is a lot of friends. We at least have each other. Oh well. I’m sure he will still have a good holiday and he has started making plans to come home for a visit around the first of the year. So that is a least something that we can all look forward to.

Although my husband and I have been talking about moving for a couple of years now and haven’t made any real moves to do it, the time has come where we really must get serious about this. I have found myself in a really delicate situation and the only way that I’m going to get out of it is to move away from the area. This will solve my problem with no hard feelings on the part of others. Even though we won’t be looking at any steel buildings to buy, we do plan on purchasing a bigger home then what we currently live in. So the house hunt will begin here shortly and hopefully this move will solve all my problems. Now if I can only get my husband’s butt in gear. lol

Well it’s almost time for my daughter’s favorite part of taking violin lessons. Her favorite part of participating in the school violin program is when they get to perform in front of family and friends during concerts. Well she has two coming up this week. The first one is on Tuesday where all the schools in our district will perform a Christmas gala. For this particular concert she will be the lead for her class. So she is quite excited about that. On Thursday she has one at her school just for her school and her school’s choir. This one isn’t as big as the first one, but she is just as excited to be a part of it. The kids have been practicing a lot and I’m sure they will all put their best foot forward for both events.

I’ll be sure to pop back in at a later date and let you all know how great these two concerts turned out. The kids will all have fun and that will be the main thing.
