Well I finally made up my mind. Aren’t you happy?! I decided that I would in fact make a wedding scrapbook for my father in law and his wife. So the other night I dug out my supplies and got to work. I also seemed to have had a couple of little helpers with me as well. But so not to drive me crazy, I would only let one come in at a time to help me. I did a couple of pages and hope to do a couple of more today. Although making a scrapbook does take quite a while, I’m pretty confident that I will have it completed for Christmas. I just hope they appreciate it and all the work that goes in to creating one.

I’m having a real difficult time this year trying to decide what to purchase for my father in law and his new bride for Christmas. They have everything, so this is why it’s so difficult. I have been thinking about doing them up a scrapbook of their wedding, making the new wife a necklace, bracelet and earrings set and purchasing my father in law some silk ties. I honestly have no other ideas in which direction to go. Hopefully they will appreciate all my handcrafted goodies and with my father in law attending a lot of church functions, he could really use some new ties. Oh well, I guess they will get what they get and I won’t have to think about presents for another year.

With the holiday season right around the corner and us not having a whole lot of spare cash on hand, I have been looking for different ways to earn a little extra income. I have been looking at possibly getting into some online trading activities, trying to sell a few more crafts and working more shifts at my work. It’s bad enough that our economy is not in real good shape these days, but needing to buy presents for the children does add a little bit more stress in our lives. Hopefully I’ll be able to find the extra money somewhere. I normally do so I’m really hoping that this year isn’t any different. The good news is, is that the kids are normally pretty good about what they get or don’t get. So really this type of thinking is only putting pressure on me and not them. I’m sure it will work out somehow.

Santa Clause is coming to town and he will be arriving in our little town sometime tonight. Tonight is our annual Christmas parade and our entire family is going. I don’t know who is more excited about the parade. The kids…or me. But due to all this excitement you can just bet that we will be up front and center for all the action. Right now it has been snowing all night and all morning long so this little bit of snow that we got will make the parade all the much more special. The only downfall is that it is really cold outside today so I’m really hoping that we get a good parking spot. I think we may need to leave a little early so we are able to get a spot near the parade route and maybe we won’t have to spend so much time out in the cold. But these things only come once a year so I’m sure we will manage all right.

Every year my kid’s school puts in a float in our local Santa Clause parade. And every year they are asking for volunteers to be on the parade committee. Normally I don’t offer my services as I don’t want to commit to something and then not be able to follow through. But this year I decided to give them a hand. Actually I don’t have to do very much for the parade float this year. All I need to do is to go to our local cattle supplies store and order quite a few bales of hay. So my job is a pretty simple one I would say. It’s a real good thing that we live in farm country. This made my job a lot easier. So when the float drives by this upcoming weekend, all the bales of hay that the children are sitting on will be courtesy of me.

Normally this time of year I am starting to get a little stressed about Christmas and everything that needs to get done before the big day. But not this year. I have already started to make all the Christmas goodies that we so enjoy this time of year so a lot of the pressure is starting to leave me. If I continue on as I have been, we may need to find the best fat burners to get rid of any access weight at the end of the season. But until then we are going to be eating pretty good. Right now my freezer is about half full and if I keep baking like I have been, by Christmas time it should be pretty full. Then all I will have to worry about is all the eating and trying not to put on too much weight.

Today is the day to remember our troops past and present. Everyday should be a day of remembrance, but today is a special day. Today is the day that the whole nation takes the day off from work and school to remember the men and women who continuously put their lives on the line for their country. It is also a day to remember the men and women in the past who have served this country so selflessly.

So, take a few moments on this special day to remember those who serve not only their country, but their fellow Canadians as well.

A friend of mine that recently left her job has decided to take an extra special vacation this year. She plans on going to the las vegas strip for Christmas. This really does sound like a good time, but I don’t know if I would want to go through Christmas. I think I would miss being around all my family members at that time of year. But since all her children are grown and live quite far away, maybe this is the only way she can cope. Well I really do hope that she has a great time and I’ve already put in my order for my collector spoon from Vegas.

Now that the school year is in full force, the kids once again have started their skating program. My son’s first skate of the year with the school was first thing this morning. So I spent a very frenzied night last night looking for supplies. I needed to find his skates, helmet, winter cap, splash pants and mittens. Because it’s been so mild around here, I haven’t needed to get any of these items ready before now.

Well he had a blast on his first skating adventure and is looking forward to the other days when his class gets to go. Me, not so much. But with tons of coffee in me, I will survive.
