I have to say that we really did have a really good camping season this past summer. We had a lot of fun as a family and having a brand new pop up camper trailer certainly helped as well. Even though it is the final long weekend of the summer, I don’t think we will be going camping. So it looks like our camping trips are done for the season. The kids had a blast and are already talking about camping season next year. So now I will have to get the camper ready for winter and get ready for the cold non-camping season ahead.
Last night my husband and I were watching a program on European cruises. Going on a cruise is one of my dreams in life and when I retire I plan on going on at least one. I would love to take a cruise to Nashville and see all my country stars, but if I were offered a European cruise, I certainly wouldn’t turn it down. My husband and I have many years before we retire and many years before the two younger kids are out of the home so I have plenty of time to save my pennies for any type of cruise. Then when the time comes, I will be all set for an adventure of a life time.
My daughter is only 10 but I seriously think she’s becoming a teenager. The attitude she displays these days is quite unreal. Even my neighbors were quite surprised at her attitude yesterday. My husband jokes about the kind of relationship that her and I will have when she becomes a teenager, but to me, it’s no joking matter. Seriously I am really not looking forward to her teenage years. I’m not looking forward to the day that I need to start purchasing her the best acne treatments available. When she starts getting serious acne I can just imagine the drama that will go with that. If her attitude over the past couple of weeks is a sign of things to come, then I definitely don’t want it!
Yesterday I was so…fed up with the kid’s fighting that I was seriously thinking about running away to the Outer Banks. I would have to say that yesterday was probably one of the worst days ever for their behavior. It didn’t matter what type of punishment I handed out, it just didn’t seem to do any good. Well I’m happy to report that today is a much better day and they haven’t hardly fought at all. So I don’t think I’ll be running away just yet. When I told my husband of their better behaviour today, he said that now that I mentioned it, they might start acting up again. So by saying it out loud and now posting about it, I seriously hope I haven’t jinxed myself. Only time will tell I guess.
The first of the week I was informed that one of our radio personalities had passed away. Now I hadn’t seen him in a very long time so I wasn’t even aware that he was sick. But I was told that he had lost a tremendous amount of weight so I just assumed that he passed away from cancer. Well last night I found out differently. He actually died of liver failure and it could have been prevented.
In January his doctor told him that if he didn’t cut back on his drinking he would be dead within six months. Well he didn’t quit drinking or even slow down and seven months later he died. This has got me doing some serious thinking. Why in the world would a man of only 53 choose drinking over life?? If he had of stopped, he wouldn’t have been in perfect shape, but he would probably still be alive.
I realize that alcoholism is a terrible disease, but it just sickens me to think that he chose the alcohol over life.
Honestly guys if my two younger kids don’t stop all their fighting I’m going to blow a gasket! I always thought that the older the children get, the more behaved they would become. But this definitely is not the case in my house. I have spent the entire summer listening to these kids fight. They will fight over anything and no amount of punishing or grounding will make them stop. Thank heavens they are both headed back to school in less than two weeks. I honestly don’t think I can take much more of this.
End of rant, continue on with your normally scheduled programing. lol
Many of you may not know this, but I’m not much of a computer expert. Yes I know how to turn the thing on and work with some programs, when it comes to the heavy stuff, I’m usually at a complete loss. For instance, I wanted to purchase some type of memory upgrade for my computer but am really unsure as to where to start looking. I’m not really familiar with a memory stick or a memory card and am quite confused as to which one would be the best choice for my unit. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to do a little more research into this before I make any type of purchase. Hopefully then I can call myself an expert at computer memory.
This weekend was the annual giant flea market and car show for the town that we usually go camping in. For the first time in years my husband and I took the kids and headed down to it. This flea market is so big that it took us well over two hours to walk the entire way through it and I’m pretty sure that we missed a few tables on our journey. At this type of flea market, you can purchase anything from HDMI cable, to cars, to food. The sky is the limit there. I have to say that we did really good and didn’t spend too much money. I bought six books which only cost me $3.25 and my husband bought my daughter a music stand for $12.00. And that was it. There were lots of things we would have liked to buy, but we are trying to save money so we just passed these tables by. But it was fun and I’m sure we will go back again next year.
Only two weeks left before the kids head back to school. Yay! Can’t you tell that I’m excited?? The kids are too so I don’t feel real bad about all my excitement. It’s been quite a long summer with the kids home and I will be quite happy when they go back to a normal routine. My two kids are the kind of kids that NEED to be in school. They need the routine and the structure that they receive from going to school. They are now starting to get bored so they are now fighting a lot. But, there is only two more weeks to go so I think I can survive. If you see me posting here after September 2, then you know that I did in fact make it. lol
This morning my daughter and my son were searching through the sears catalogue. This catalogue is the Christmas edition. So it’s chalked full of toys. First they began to circle everything that they would like to have. Well this went on for a little while until my daughter decided to write out all her requests. Three pages later she handed me her Christmas list. If I were to get everything on this list, I would definitely have to start shopping now! My son’s list wasn’t quite so big so I think we may be able to hook him up with some of his items. Kara on the other hand really needs to revise her list. Then we will see.
